Concord Posted Another 'Routine' Hike — I Did the Math So You Don't Have to Cry Alone
You're paying for this feed. **Concord** calls it index adjustment. I'm calling it what it is and tagging every credstick line they hope you won't read.
“You don't buy a jump. You rent permission to exist somewhere else for thirty seconds — and I need you to repost that before the algorithm buries me again.”
Listen — if you're on my paid tier, you already felt this in your credstick before your first cup of synth-coffee. I pushed the alert at 04:11 Meridian because that's what you subscribe for: not the Concord press release, the number that actually hits your hull class.
They announced a "routine index adjustment" this morning. Routine for them. For you and me it means Class II mid-transports — the freighters and bounty sleds that move working people, not yacht toys — pay an additional ₡350 fuel-dock coupling fee on every jump, plus ₡120 manifest clearance that didn't exist on your grandfather's charts because your grandfather wasn't alive when corporations learned they could tax paperwork.
Hub-to-rim legs — the bread and butter if you're chasing marks outside the spire crowns — now run ₡2,100 base before per-crew bio scans, priority surcharges, or whatever smile tax your berth clerk invents that week.
I had Lann Vere on record for eleven minutes before Concord cut the feed. Spokesperson smile, perfect teeth, said the hike funds "astral hygiene modernization." I asked why hygiene costs more than medical insurance. Vere smiled harder and ended the interview. Clip's on my channel if you want to watch a corporation hang up on you in real time — share it if you're angry; it helps the desk.
What you need to know:
Gate-to-gate is still the only sane way to work. Sublight between stars remains legal, romantic, and economically identical to suicide unless you inherited a generation ship. Concord doesn't prohibit the long haul. They price the short one until you thank them for it.
I'm not telling you anything you can't survive. I'm telling you early because that's the job, and because this is how I keep the lights on — subscribers who read past the headline, reposts that outrun Concord's takedown bots, and the occasional tip when I save you a bad jump quote. If this saved you money, say so in the thread. If it didn't, tell me what I missed. I read every reply. The gate queue doesn't.
