Third Dermidine Campus Death This Year — Corp Calls It Suicide Again; Flagship Game May Never Ship

Evening desk · free broadcast. Campus grief counselors on standby. Also: the immersive title you were actually waiting for might be a memory.

Maybe it's the water in the annex fountains. Maybe it's the psych evals. Maybe it's Tuesday. What a loss — and we're not just talking about the researcher.

GOOD EVENING, MERIDIAN.

You're watching Channel 5 Eyewitness — I'm Tess Reese at the Spire desk (your free feed gets the headline; Eyewitness+ subscribers already got the push alert and the unclipped B-roll). If you just tuned in from the rings queue, yes, it's been that kind of week.

Dermidine Industries

confirmed another death on the Meridian Spire Annex campus. Corporate Security and Legal Relay are calling it suicide — again. That makes three on-record campus deaths classified that way this year alone, and the third hit this week, which is the kind of calendar clustering that makes HR send extra fruit baskets and makes the rest of us check whether our credstick still works.

Dermidine's statement is one line long. You have seen this movie. "Personal distress." "Support resources available." No press conference. No names in the public packet tonight — though industry chatter already ties the desk death to a senior Depth Experience researcher who'd just filed a closed product review. We are not confirming identity until Legal stops speed-dialing our producer.

So what's going on at Dermidine?

On air, I'm required to be compassionate. Off-prompter, my therapist costs less than their parking orbit, so here's the joke you're already telling in the break room:

Maybe Meridian needs better psych evals before it hands people keys to worlds that feel more real than the debrief room.

Maybe there's something in the water at the Spire Annex — and before Corporate Communications clips this, I mean the fountain refill contract, not a conspiracy. Drink local. Hydrate responsibly. Don't @ me.

Maybe it's just Tuesday on a campus that sells dreams for a living and files nightmares as paperwork.

The game you were actually waiting for

Separate chyron, same stomachache.

Sources with badges and NDAs — the polite kind, not the Nullroot kind — say Dermidine's most anticipated immersive release of the season, the flagship Depth Experience title the marketing decks have been teasing since last quarter, is not shipping on the holiday window.

Not delayed six weeks. Not "polish pass."

We're hearing years. We're hearing shelved entirely after what one insider called a "participant comfort event" during internal review. Dermidine has not returned our calls. Their investor relations line played hold music that sounded like a lullaby, which feels on-brand and also like a threat.

If you've pre-ordered access tokens on the Spire kiosks, check your refund language. If you bought stock, talk to someone who still believes in dreams as a growth sector.

Community note

Campus grief counselors are on standby — Dermidine's words, not ours. The annex shuttle is running on schedule. The pastel ad-glass still says a second skin worth living in. The city still needs the tax revenue.

We will update this desk when Legal allows a name, a cause, or a release date that isn't fiction.

Until then

three suicides, one dream product circling the drain, and a whole sphere still refreshing preorder pages like hope is a subscription service.

What a loss.

Back after this — weather, ring delays, and a lifestyle segment on fenmar pairings that will feel obscene in retrospect. Stay with us — and tap subscribe before Legal wins.
