The Ashveil Accords

Overview

The Ashveil Accords

Every long ceasefire breeds a room where someone tries to turn guns down into peace signed. For Solaris and the Haliori Crown, the most famous of those rooms was Ashveil Station — a leased neutral habitat in the dead lane between the Federation picket line and the Haliora approach, spun up for diplomacy the way you spin up a quarantine ward: quickly, expensively, and with everyone pretending the air is fine.

The first round lasted six months. Solaris sent an ambassador and a wall of aides. The Luminarch sent princes, beam-lords, and translators who could make Aureline sound like an insult in three registers. The talks were never public. Fringe Net still got the outline: recognition, gate fees, prisoner exchanges, medical licenses, the right to mourn the dead without calling them insurgents.

They failed quietly — no peace treaty, no victory parade, no formal war declaration either. What remained was the Crownline ceasefire already holding on the line: both sides tired, neither side trusting. A second talk track was rumored within the year. Marines on both fronts still slept in armor. Aides who had learned each other's names went home on different shuttles and did not write.
