Gravelight is the dock pattern meant to sit under grit, coolant mist, and the boots of people who swear they’ll reroute the cable tomorrow. Brushed alloy cheeks protect a cast ceramic spine carrying twin capacitor rails. The recessed telltale strip can be read from across a machinery bay: amber while charging, white while holding load, hard red when the sacrificial contactor has welded. At full draw the casing runs hot enough to dry wet gloves and makes a gravelly chatter as its magnetic shunts work.
The front service tray pulls clear on steel runners, putting fuses, contactors, and cooling screens in reach without disturbing the live-side gland. It buffers dock winches, pressure pumps, and shore-fed workshops through repeated voltage dips. Amperex sells it cheaply on a service lease, then bills heavily for missed filter swaps. Used units with polished screw heads usually hid a field repair; buyers should budget for a contactor set before trusting one beside fuel transfer.
