Nightshift Hotwire Key

Nightshift is less a key than a thief’s roll: insulated picks, jumper wire, two magnetic relays, a penlight, and a laminated card of common lock diagrams. Everything is matte black except the wire ends, painted by touch code for use in darkness. It opens nothing by itself. In practiced hands it turns a silent panel into an understandable problem. In clumsy hands it turns the lights on, the alarm on, or the owner’s hair briefly orange. The canvas roll smells of rubber and old rain. Half the value lies in the handwritten notes along its hem, assuming the previous owner was competent and not actively malicious.
