Wayfarer Blind Courier Beacon

Wayfarer’s beacon never sends from where it is placed. It listens for passing personal devices, infects one with a tiny relay instruction, and waits until that device travels elsewhere before releasing the courier’s encrypted packet. The result is a message whose apparent origin walked away on somebody else’s belt. Clever. Also rude. The beacon resembles a luggage scale and functions as one, poorly. Busy terminals give it many carriers; empty docks leave it holding the message forever. Updated security suites may catch the relay and preserve evidence. The seller calls this “route uncertainty.” Couriers call it sitting in a cafe for six hours wondering whether the package has started moving.
