Coldrail’s Anchor is the ugly little latch crews bolt onto lockers containing sidearms, medication, or the captain’s cash tin. Its phosphor-bronze pawl bites a case-hardened rail rather than a single strike hole, so a flexing hull doesn’t shake it loose. Four backing studs require access to both sides of the panel; anyone installing it with self-tappers deserves the theft report they’ll eventually file. Crew badges open it locally, while a keyed brass cylinder provides the dead-power route. A clockwork counter under the faceplate records every opening and failed key turn; the electronic memory adds badge identity and time for 1,024 events. It runs from a berth circuit or six-month cartridge cell. Slamming a warped locker can produce false “forced panel” marks, usually followed by arguments over who bent it. Anchor logs are accepted by most ship insurers, but deleting them after a loss is treated as evidence tampering, not tidy housekeeping.
