The kit adds an electromagnetic lock to a hatch or cabinet, including strike plate, controller, backup cell, and a brutally plain manual release. Shim and align it before power-up; a crooked plate hums, heats, and smells of varnish. It is common retrofit security, stronger than a latch and cheaper than replacing a door. The lock holds while powered and configured. Wiring it fail-secure on an escape route is a fine way to turn theft prevention into manslaughter. Boltward sells Meridian Maglock Kit from the legal front shelves, records the serial, and keeps bypass parts under a different key. The hardware is meant to delay trouble and preserve evidence—not grant the owner magical authority over a corridor.
Civilian-legal. Cutting one open without a warrant is still a crime.
