Wayfarer Vigil is a watch-lock for chart rooms, comms closets, and any door whose owner wants two people implicated in opening it. The ribbed ceramic face conceals paired steel bolts, separate credential readers, and a brass witness dial linked directly to the gearbox. Installation requires a reinforced strike plate, eight through-bolts, and two power feeds from different ship circuits. Normal access needs two authorized badges presented within thirty seconds; the captain’s split emergency keys provide a mechanical route. The controller records 20,000 events, including badge order, timing, power loss, and each key half used. The witness dial advances on every gearbox movement and cannot be reset aboard ship. Synchronization faults after clock maintenance can cause false “late second badge” denials. Either feed runs the unit; an internal cell adds 48 hours. Opening Vigil alone may be physically possible. Socially, it creates a second problem: the audit proves somebody either had an accomplice or stole one.
