The ballistic weave coat passes for heavy dockwear: broad collar, dull buttons, grease-dark outer cloth, and enough inner pockets to lose a week’s pay. Beneath that sits a quilt of aramid fiber and overlapping resin plates, concentrated over the chest, spine, and kidneys. It will not make rifle fire polite, but it turns many pistol hits and fragments into survivable bruises. The cut is loose enough for a shoulder holster and warm enough to become punishment in a reactor space. Rain makes the hem heavy. Blood makes it heavier. Tailors at Sealmark will alter one while preserving panel overlap, which costs more than buying a larger coat and looks considerably less ridiculous.
Civilian-legal. Wear it into a secure corp lobby and expect the scanner to have opinions.
