Redline is ten kilograms of oxygen-free copper wound on a returnable ceramic hub. Ship electricians use it for bus repairs, motor windings, grounding straps and the little emergency jobs that begin with somebody saying the old wire is probably fine. The red assay band is not decoration. If it has turned black, the spool has been somewhere the certificate did not approve.
