Survey crews and low-income dock workers buy cartridges to stretch costly filters. Licensed vacuum teams treat them as backup only. Wealthy users carry sealed chemical stacks. The moss does not make vacuum breathable, nor does it remove every toxin. Oil mist coats the pores, salt water kills the culture, and warm storage breeds microbes. A contaminated cartridge raises breathing resistance and can feed aerosolized bacteria directly into the user's lungs—cheap air becoming pneumonia one breath at a time.
