Enceladus

Overview

Enceladus

Enceladus is Saturn's ice-export moon — small dome towns clinging to a shell that cracks with plumes, water economics that keep Titan's wine lists from becoming a hydration crisis, and tug captains everyone knows by debt and nickname. The corridors smell of meltwater and ozone; the sound is ice saws and relay chatter counting cans bound for orange haze.

Research prestige lives here alongside export ice — institutes that publish carefully, labs that sell samples less carefully, and 15-point residency with a population small enough that a missing shift boss is town news. Quiet compared to Titan. Indispensable compared to everyone pretending otherwise. Plume zones are theology and hazard; drill permits are religion and lawsuit.

Every contract with Titan is a marriage arranged by accountants. Every tug union meeting is a veto on Saturn's comfort. Enceladus does not have skyline estates — it has the throat, and throats learn to charge for swallowing.
