Braka Hold-Pin
Overview
Braka Hold-Pin keeps a dock the way other people keep a border — not to stop trade, but to decide what crosses.
She's the hold-warden at Pin Reach's basalt berths — two hundred forty-three years of reading pin-brooch standing and never once needing to shout about it — and she was waiting before your ramp touched stone, because open radio in the clear means everyone down here already heard you were coming to log them. Iron-grey hair in the heavy layered beadwork of a full warden: kin-pins, honor-pins, the small blackened ones that mean she's presided over chart disputes settled and chart disputes buried. She is not angry you came. She is precise about why you should not treat that as permission.
Pin Reach is not empty. It has never been empty. Hundreds of millions of dwarves work the nightside forges and dayside seas under hold law strict enough to make a Concord customs wall look like a suggestion, and the whole point of staying off the registries is that the rings don't get to name the forge-fires without asking. Braka can help a respectful crew — gate approach, berth coords, a sanitized UWP band that confirms A-class port and thin-atmo hold-world without population detail or city coords that invite claim-jumpers. She can also bury your chain, turn your hull away warm but firm, and make sure every guild-dock on the spur remembers which broker sent ring-snitches. The choice is manners. Here, charting is politics, and she is the politician with the ledger.
