LORE
Deep Rise
Overview
Deep Rise
Two hops off Khesret, one past Hardfell Core, there's a big ugly rock the League charts and mostly ignores: Hesk's second world, a pressure-canyon desert wrapped in an atmosphere thick and sour enough to chew a cheap seal. No cities. No hold. Officially a few dozen souls, most of them on one wildcat claim clinging to a canyon wall where a debt-clan dwarf named Vondra Deep-Cut has been sinking shafts for thirty years on a bet everyone told her was stupid. The scout logs still describe the place the way they described it the day it was filed: a shack and a fuel cache.
The scout logs are out of date. Vondra hit ore — real ore, the kind of seam that turns a wildcat into a company — and out here that changes everything, because in the Hardfell League a claim is only yours as long as the paperwork agrees. Three planetoid belts hang overhead full of the same promise, two gas giants for fuel, and a System King back at the Core who has spent a career learning that the cheapest way to own a rich claim is to let someone else find it first and then discover a problem with their charter.
So Deep Rise runs on the two things dwarves never stop counting: ore and debt. It's the kind of frontier where the danger isn't pirates — it's a clean-shaven Guild man with a stamped writ and a patient smile, and a beadwork ledger that says who owes what to whom, forever. A crew hauling supplies out here is moving more than frame parts and fuel. They're a witness, whether they meant to be or not, to whether the strike stays in the hands that dug it.
