The Khesret System

Overview

The Khesret System

Khesret is not a planet with a few rocks around it — it is a machine for living. HIP 5336 burns alone at the center of a large, busy sky. Two world-class bodies anchor the map: Khesret-Prime, the polystrate garden hub where billions stack from sump to spire, and Khesret-IX, the outer gas giant whose scoop lanes feed the tankers that keep the hub honest.

This system came in with the second Sol colonization wave — Legacy hulls first, then Concord's first public gate hanging over Prime as the Meridian Gate Ring. Locals call the charter free: no multi-system empire owns the dirt. Corps from half the Corridor still hang their arcology stations here by the hundreds (some say a thousand), each one its own law once the airlock seals.

Prime rides the inner sky with two moons — Auric Halo (copper-bright refineries) and Selene Coil (cold stacks and smuggler trams). Food grows on Orchard Ring and farmed hulls, not on some frontier dirt paradise. Brass Vein chews the mid belt; Slate Chord is the thin outer rocky scatter for quieter claims. At the cold edge of the lifebelt, Rim Ember coughs under atmo plants that never get to take a day off — a terraforming nightmare everyone pretends is almost done.

Farther out: the Ashen Ore Cloud, the colonization ship graveyard tangled through it, and the IX scoop corridor where fuel skiffs drink atmosphere under escort or not at all. Above the elevator district, Meridian couples four primary spurs — Sol, Thul'vaneh Core, Hardfell Core, and Ee'la — Concord hardware end to end, corporate headquarters for distance itself, not a planetary government.

Every lane has its own board postings, its own fixers, and its own idea of what legal means until someone with a badge disagrees.
