Wave Rise A-Berth

Overview

Wave Rise A-Berth

The A-berth was built for a colony expected to grow and then wrapped in quarantine before it could. Half the concourse is sealed behind yellow pressure doors. The open half smells of hot filters, disinfectant, and coffee from a machine with a federal inventory sticker older than most of the dock crew.

Outside the mooring shell, interdiction buoys drift through the approach on conflicting station-keeping programs. Their lamps flash Colonial Health warnings; their transmitters cite three different exclusion codes. Incoming hulls get one current vector from the berth, another from the public chart, and a third barked at them by a buoy that may still have fuel and enforcement authority.

Inside, Quarantine Officer Thomas Rook runs the chart desk with tired precision. He can clear a clean survey chain, order isolation, or void an upload that hides a live hazard. What he cannot do is make the Federal contractor's maintenance invoices match the neglected perimeter outside. That discrepancy is waiting in the logs like a loose bolt in a turbine.

scale
orbital A-class Federation berth — interdiction field, controlled mooring shell, decontamination corridor, chart/quarantine desk, isolation bays, maintenance gallery
tone
A Federal quarantine station left outside too long — capable, understaffed, and surrounded by warnings that disagree
senses
Disinfectant and hot filter air, yellow pressure doors, buoy challenges on comms, warning lamps over rust flats, old fans ticking beside incomplete maintenance logs
occupantSummary
Human quarantine officers, technicians, freight crews, municipal delegates, and first-chart survey hulls
hazards
Drifting interdiction buoys on obsolete codes; conflicting safe vectors; isolation orders; contractor pressure to bury maintenance failures
connections
Concord gate via Zatheeri Reach as transit, then Wave Rise; four gas giants and two belts; controlled descent to Vashren II's sealed towns
travelNote
Request the current Federal safe vector before entering the buoy field; do not trust the public chart or an unauthenticated buoy challenge by itself
factionTies
Solaris Colonial Affairs, Federal Colonial Health, Wave Rise municipal councils, Concord gate authority, and a delinquent buoy-maintenance contractor
