Hard Mercy Empathy Filter Pin is a lapel pin containing a tiny affective gate behind a disk of smoked glass. The Hard Mercy build uses black ceramic, blunt steel catches, and a single red cutoff tab; it is designed around the principle that relief without an exit switch is merely a nicer trap. With Hard Mercy, clipped near the sternum, it shaves the sharpest edge from emotions bleeding off nearby people. Grief becomes weather instead of drowning; rage arrives as heat without the command to answer it; that is the Hard Mercy distinction. Hard Mercy's filter also blunts useful warmth and can make a practiced empath seem cruel. Its indicator darkens as saturation builds; that is the Hard Mercy distinction. With Hard Mercy, wear it too long and your own feelings start arriving with somebody else's handwriting. The Quiet Room charges 720 credits, including fitting and a baseline card.
