Rough gray crystal weights the hem of Gravelight's memory silk, each natural fracture packed with phosphor and gold dust. In darkness the robe glows from inside the stone, outlining the wearer's movement in slow buried fire. Three evenings teach it posture and heat. On the fourth, the owner stands barefoot on mineral grit while a fitter sets the crystals to tighten at hesitation and loosen at command. The effect is magnificent at entrances and unnerving in bedrooms. Gravelight must be brushed with conductive dust after every use; ordinary cleaning strips the phosphor and preserves whatever fear the fabric last held.
