The first thing Hardwear Layer Set gets right is proportion. The close base layer maps thicker knit over pressure points and leaves expansion zones along ribs, groin, and shoulder blades. The base layer combines dense recycled aramid knit, waxed dockcloth, and replaceable polymer reinforcement. Its palette, smoke grey with acid-yellow stitching, has enough restraint for transit and enough edge for bad company. It reads naturally on station regulars who notice workmanship. Real wear shows first at the closures, where machine-room grime dulls the finish but doesn't stop the hardware. Care for Hardwear Layer Set: brush it dry, rinse the salt out by hand, and replace damaged panels instead of cooking the whole piece in a laundry drum; neglect brings stiffness, odor, and faults. It manages sweat and temperature under workwear or armor without adding meaningful bulk. Once saturated it chills quickly, and worn compression zones can cause numbness on long shifts.
