The first useful thing about Second Bell Spar Deck Workwear Transit Pattern is its cut: room across the shoulders, little excess at the cuff, no heroic tailoring anywhere. A dense basalt-fiber canvas faces outward, backed by a wicking knit that smells faintly of hot dust after a long shift. Knee-pad sleeves open from outside, the waist tabs lie beneath a belt, and the left chest pocket is divided for clean and filthy tools. New cloth is charcoal; used cloth becomes the color of the owner's work -- coolant white at the cuffs, cable soot at the shoulder, rust along the dominant knee. Repairs are meant to show. On a working deck it reads as competence if worn thin and suspicion if spotless. Its weak point is heat. A brief spark rolls off; sustained flame shrinks the stretch panels and locks the joints half bent.
