The first useful thing about Wayfarer Spar Deck Workwear Field Pattern is its cut: room across the shoulders, little excess at the cuff, no heroic tailoring anywhere. The fabric mixes cheap station-grown cotton with abrasion yarn, then doubles it only where deck plate actually wins arguments. Knee-pad sleeves open from outside, the waist tabs lie beneath a belt, and the left chest pocket is divided for clean and filthy tools. Scuffs brighten before fibers fail, giving a competent wearer warning. Bad owners wash that evidence away with solvent and then act surprised when a seam opens. In the Sump it is ordinary enough to disappear. Upstairs, the smell of machine soap announces the wearer before the clothes do. It fails first at the inner knee: once the pale backing grid shows, another crawl can turn a cheap patch into a long tear.
