The Ancients War
Overview
The Ancients War
Every arm has a war it refuses to date cleanly. This one is worse: the Ancients War is the scar under the Corridor's oldest salvage law — a conflict so hard and so volatile that whole systems still read as wrong on long-range sensors, and spacer folklore invents new names for the same dead light.
What the public agrees on is thin. Two powers tore at each other across this galactic neighborhood: the Aethari, who could turn energy into matter and hop without gates, and the Vethari, whose name survives mostly as a spacer curse and a blank on Concord educational feeds. The fighting was not polite. It was the kind of war that makes later civilizations invent rings so they never have to invent courage that expensive again.
The Aethari fielded loyal warframes — mechaniform soldiers who died in numbers that broke their makers. Guilt followed. Then a change of doctrine: give the frames a reason to live, not only a reason to obey. Those frames became a people. The last battle that shut the Vethari out of this arm is still whispered under a name that later became a company: Concord. The Aethari left. The war's leftovers — ruins, tunnel scars, and arguments about who started it — stayed.
On Khesret, you hear the Ancients War in three places: a Nullroot thread insisting warframes became a hidden species, a salvage crew that will not open a sealed vault without a Null on the team, and a Concord tariff notice that somehow feels older than the company that prints it.
