Reef-Spiral
Overview
Reef-Spiral
Three hops out from Khesret, after a transit through Thul'vaneh and Zatheeri Reach, the lane opens over Sirosh: a blue Federation colonial world cut into archipelagos, storm belts, and reef shelves bright enough to show through orbit. Reef-Spiral is the Solaris name for the system and its gate-side dock. Colonial Affairs keeps the filing thin, but not secret — a rich water world is expensive to administer, and distant offices have a talent for calling neglect a provisional charter.
The reef-berth handles desalination membranes, aquaculture stock, storm-hardened habitat parts, and the ugly tonnage of keeping island cities alive. Its ring smells of iodine, wet polymer, and coffee burned down to tar by the night shift. Below, ferries stitch harbor towns across Sirosh's island chains while survey skiffs work protected reef shelves under Federal environmental permits. The people are mostly human colonists, dock crews, researchers, and families who have learned that a water world can still make fresh water somebody's leverage.
Paper matters here. Colonial Affairs owns the charter, the Port Authority owns the docking order, and the Federal Hydrographic Office owns the approach data everybody swears is current. Bring a clean manifest and they'll find you a berth. Bring a sealed calibration case nobody wants inspected and you'll learn how quickly a quiet colonial dock can become a federal evidence locker.
