Reef-Spiral Reef-Berth

Overview

Reef-Spiral Reef-Berth

The berth is a practical Federation ring over Sirosh, built around desalination freight, aquaculture transfers, and storm-season repair. It smells of iodine, wet polymer, hot electrics, and coffee left on a warmer until it becomes a structural adhesive.

Human dock crews work the quota floor in orange Port Authority jackets. They weigh membrane stacks, inspect environmental seals, and argue with island councils over which harbor receives the next shipment of pump parts. Through the floor ports, Sirosh turns blue and gold beneath them — reef shelves, storm walls, and harbor lights scattered over the island chains.

The berth's dishonest seam is hydrographic data. Supervisor Laura Bennett moves unauthorized correction sets to independent captains who cannot afford certified Federal subscriptions. The sealed calibration case arriving on the crew's manifest may save lives. If its data is stale, it may kill them instead. A Colonial Affairs audit team is already working inward from the gate.
