On the campus map it is a maintenance annex — a low, windowless block off the main corridor, doors sealed, a placard the escorts steer you past. Signage calls it environmental services. The air near it tastes faintly of ozone and cold, and the underlighting there runs one shade dimmer than the lounges, as if the building would rather you kept walking.
What little the public sees is a sealed threshold: a biometric door, a wall notice about "restricted air handling," and a crew in unmarked coveralls who do not make eye contact. Whatever the Depth Wing is for, Dermidine plainly does not want playtesters lingering in front of it on their way to the gate.
Playtesters who glance twice remember the wrong things — a face in the underlighting, a sound like a pod cycling, a door that should not hum. The escorts call it ventilation. The building does not argue.
