The Annex is Dermidine's campus in the orbital-elevator district — a cluster of pale, sound-dampened towers braced against the base of the Meridian Spire, where the elevator ribbon climbs out of sight into the copper haze. Everything here is engineered to feel calm: filtered air, warm underlighting, floors that never squeak, staff who smile on a schedule.
Visitors move through pastel lounges and debrief suites with soft furniture and softer voices. Somewhere below the public floors are the Depth pod bays — sub-level B-7, where subscribers lie in cooling lace and live their licensed dreams. You do not tour those. You wake near them and get walked out through the pretty part.
The Annex smells of antiseptic under vanilla, and it is very, very quiet — the specific quiet of a place that spends money to keep it that way.
