The Ee'la System
Overview
The Ee'la System
Ee'la is not a polite star on a tourist map — it is a trade choke where forest law, moon poverty, and Navy convoy discipline share one ledger. Concord census still files the system under "protected elder stock," which is accurate the way calling a glacier "wet" is accurate.
Ee'la Prime holds the bulk of the population: two mag-rail-linked megacities — Tre'dalmor Spire and Yel'adari Rimward — sealed inside an urban belt that pretends the planet is only architecture. Beyond that belt lies old-growth preserve forest under absolute no-trespass law. Outsiders hike in once, post holo-travel essays, and never do it twice without a council writ.
The moons tell a meaner story. Most orbital bodies are stack-habitats for the poor — cold berths, recycler slums, strip refineries, and visa labor that never becomes citizenship. Names like Rimfall and Cinder Port show up on freight manifests more often than on postcards. The exception is Aelva, a medium green jungle moon kept deliberately wet: the Fae'ana canopy nation, woven cities hundreds of meters up, and the Shen'varai crownflower harvest that makes inner-ring longevity clinics nervous about their quarterly budgets.
Between planet and moons, Mae'lacan orbital stations run the cold chain — Navy escorts, blockade drills, and the quiet understanding that if Aelva's flower convoys stall, the inner arm's longevity market stalls with them.
