Rail Cut Handshake Platform

Overview

Rail Cut's handshake platform hangs above the old tram cut on four pylons that do not agree about level. It was a relay station once. Now it is one pressure room, a capacitor shed, an antenna spine, and a docking collar polished by ships that stay exactly long enough to exchange maintenance handshakes. The rest of the complex lies dark below, half buried in frost and rockfall.

Six maintainers keep the platform alive. Their beard beads are practical ceramic numbers, chipped and smoke-stained, with no audience worth impressing. They sell charge, patched seals, and access to old error logs. They do not sell loyalty. A visitor who brings the right capacitor or works a stubborn valve gets more truth than somebody waving High Seat paper through the glass.

The Tramlock route touches here because every relay fault and lock-line timing packet crosses the platform before the next gate. Most are dull. A few contain tolerances nobody at Rail Cut should possess. The evidence is small — a handshake, a repeated interval, a counterfeit shoe dimension — but it is enough to tell a careful auditor that Tramlock's clean mirror is lying.
