They crew the Fleet — massive orbital stations, long-range escort hulls, blockade drills, and the cold-chain discipline that moves moss from equatorial launch pads to Navy storage without "accidental" lab raids.

Mae'lacan are natural spacers: raised in zero-g academies, five foot five to six foot five, 150–350 lb dense muscle (heavier than they look), warm tan to rich light brown skin, slightly pointed ears visible under short hair, brown eyes (rare green auspicious in old houses), overwhelmingly black hair tied back on duty.
