Four light-years from Sol and a lifetime from ordinary. Alpha Centauri is a triple star — the bright A–B pair Rigil Kent, and the dim red Proxima — but spacers file the whole address under one luxury stamp: wine.

Two world-class bodies matter on the map:

Proxima Libre — a terraformed habitable world where an entire continent was engineered as La France Libre (*Free France*): deliberate rain, chalk soils, slope angles, and frost schedules tuned for viticulture until the export boards stopped pretending any other terroir could compete. Champagne caves, Grand Cru terraces, and French as the language of law, school, kitchen, and insult.

Rigil Export — the companion industrial world in the A–B gravity well: bottling vaults, cold-chain yards, mass-driver launch, and the accountants who turn harvest into Concord luxury freight. Nobody holidays on Rigil. Everyone drinks what Rigil ships.

Concord rings link Alpha Centauri to Sol, Khesret, and the Orion Corridor; Solaris elites treat Libre vintage like ancestry you can swallow. The colony charter calls itself independent and French in the same breath — which is accurate the way calling a glacier wet is accurate.
